Middle School Music

Trombonists Tropical Delight
by Dennis Eveland

This fun work features your trombone section in a latin setting. This work was recorded by the Alice High School Symphonic Band conducted by Dr. Bryan Herring. It is available from TRN Music Publishers.

Los Braziles
by Dennis Eveland

"Los Braziles" is dedicated to my Mother in Law, Felisa Garza. The name "Los Braziles" is from her ranch which is located just north of Falfurrias, Texas. This ranch was given to her family from the King of Spain. This recording was done by the University of Texas-Brownsville Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mr. Allen Clark. It is available from TRN Music Publications.

Symphony #9 - Largo (Going Home)
by Roel Flores

Here is a nice solemn piece for your next patriotic event. Optional solo or band singing with low brass accompaniment.

Going Home Lyrics
Going home, going home, I'm a going home.
Quiet like, some still day, I'm just going home.
It's not far, just close by, through an open door.
Work all done, care laid by, Going to fear no more.
Mother's there, expecting me, Father's waiting too.
Lots of folk gathered there, All the friends I knew.

Say it Right
by Markell R. Robinson

Made famous by Nelly Furtado, this pop tune was arranged for my middle school band. This original song "Say it Right" is the property of Geffen Records, 2006.

A Galaxy Marches On
by Kyle McKinzey

This march "borrows" style from a very famous band piece. It's a great way to introduce kids to more advanced works.

Chance
by Kyle McKinzey

Chance is an approachable contemporary piece for young players. The melodies are easy enough for young players to hear but there are contemporary elements that they can easily achieve. The opening is a free modal section that introduces many of the themes that are used throughout. The aleatory elements in the woodwinds and mallets should be played wild and random. Many young players are intimidated at first because they "don't want to play it wrong". Let them have fun with it. As usual, it moves into a fast section with the percussion making the transition. The first part, while fast, should still have a smooth legato feel.

Jalisco - Concert March
by Kyle McKinzey

Jalisco is a march that I played with my band for UIL in 2008.  My school is mostly Hispanic and I looked for a march that would represent them and was playable.  After finding none, I decided to write our own.  Jalisco should be played in a nice relaxed manner.  I hope you enjoy it.  Click HERE to view a sample score.

Tierra Del Sol
by Roel Flores

Love the 80's? Spanish flavor stand tune for middle school band. Cornet parts can be substituted for Clarinet parts. Optional repeat if desired.

Band Rox!
by Darrington E. White

This grade 1 work is published by TRN Music. It is an easy pop piece and is written for bands with limited instrumentation.

Legend of the Warriors
by Darrington E. White

This is a grade 2 work published by Grand Mesa Music. Featuring excitement and melodies in all parts, this well-crafted and imaginative overture will surely be a favorite of young bands around the world. A short lyrical section perfectly offsets the overall bold, aggressive writing.
